1. Explain Principle of moments.

2. Explain about Principle of transmissibility.

3. Explain conditions of equilibrium of two force members.

4. What you mean by free body diagram.

5. What is resultant and equilibrant.

6. Two smooth circular cylinders each of weight W=1000N and radius r=15mm, are connected at their centers by a string AB of length l=40 mm and rest upon a horizontal plane supporting above them a third cylinder of weight Q=2000N and radius r=15mm.as shown in fig. Find the force S in the string AB.

7. ABCD is weightless rod under an action of 4 forces P, Q, S & T as shown in figure.5. If P=30N, Q=12N, S=6N & T=14N. 

Calculate resultant in magnitude and direction, and also locate its point of application with respect to the end A of the rod.


8. Forces of 15N, 20N, 25N, 35N & 45N acts at an angular point of a regular hexagon towards the other angular points. Calculate magnitude & direction of angular points.

9. An electric light fixture weighing 100 N hangs from point C, by two strings AC and BC, AC is inclined at 45 ̊ to the vertical and 60 ̊ to the horizontal as shown in figure.1. 

Determine the forces in string AC and BC.
