3. A jet of water coming out of 6 cm diameter nozzle with a velocity of 18 m/s strikes at the centre of a symmetrical curved vane.
The curved vane is moving with a velocity of 6 m/s in the direction of jet. After striking, the jet is deflected by an angle of 1650. Assume the vane is smooth and find out
a. Force exerted by the jet on the vane in the direction of jet
b. Power of the jet
c. Efficiency of the jet
The nozzle diameter supplying the water is 20 cm and the side clearance angle ( vane angle at outlet ) is 150. Determine
(i) Force exerted by the water on the bucket
(ii) Power given by the water to the runner
(iii) Hydraulic efficiency of the turbine. Take co-efficient of velocity = 0.98 and speed ratio = 0.45.
