IIT Madras has released the online application form of GATE 2019 on August 31, 2018. To fill the GATE application form 2019, the candidates will have to register through GOAPS. While filling the GATE 2019 application form, valid information about the personal, academic and contact details will have to be submitted by the candidates. The required application fee also has to be paid through online mode. The last date to submit the GATE application form 2019 without late fee is September 21, 2018. Thereafter candidates can apply by paying a late fee of Rs 500 (USD 20 for centres abroad) till October 1, 2018.
Before filling the application form of GATE 2019, the candidates are advised to read through the eligibility criteria. The application form of ineligible candidates will be rejected by the GATE authorities. Certain amount of time will also be given for GATE 2019 application form correction. Things to Keep Ready Before Filling GATE Application Form 2019
All of the candidates are requested to keep the following documents and information ready before filling the GATE 2019 application form.
- Scanned photograph and signature of the candidate
- Personal Details and Address for Communication (including PIN Code) Details
- Eligibility Degree details
- GATE paper (subject) and choice of exam cities
- Net banking/credit card/debit card details for payment of fee
- Valid Photo Identity Proof (Aadhaar Card/Passport/Driving License/PAN Card/Voter ID/College ID/Employee Identification Card/Notarized Affidavit with Photo, Signature, Date of Birth and Residential Address). The identity proof required by foreign students are Passport/Government Issued ID/College ID/Employee ID.
- Degree Certificate/Provisional Certificate/Course Completion Certificate (Candidates who have completed their graduation in 2018 or earlier).
- Final year students will also have to submit their Provisional Certificate Letter as per format issued by the Home of Institute/Dean/Registrar/Head of Department
- Candidates in final year of AMIE will have to keep ready their mark sheet for Section A of AMIE in case of professional equivalent qualifications.
- Disability or PwD Certificate (if applicable)
- Candidates who were pursuing higher degree or masters had to submit the qualifying degree certificate or provisional one.
- Candidates with backlogs had to upload copy of any of the mark sheet of the final year issued by the institute where they are studying.

How to Fill GATE Application Form 2019?
To be successfully registered for the examination, the candidates will have to fill and submit the application form of GATE 2019 and submit it before the final date. The given steps can be followed by the candidates to be registered for GATE 2019:

Step 1 – Registration through GOAPS (GATE Online Application Processing System)
Registration: Firstly, candidates will have to register through GOAPS by providing their full name, valid email ID and mobile number. The submitted email ID and mobile number must be valid in nature since all communications related to the examination will be sent through this medium. International candidates will be communicated through email.
Enrollment Number: After registration, an enrollment number will be provided to the candidates through SMS and email. The enrollment number is very important as it will be required later.
OTP: An OTP will also be sent to the registered mobile number for verification.
Password: A password also has to be chosen and set by the candidates. The selected password has to be unique and not be known to others.
Step 2 – Filling of GATE 2019 Application Form
Next, candidates will have to fill the application form of GATE 2019 with personal, academic and other required details. Candidates will have to login using their enrollment number and password and click on “Start the GATE 2019 Application” button. The following details will have to be provided:
Personal Details – The candidates will have to enter details such as their name, gender, date of birth, mobile number, name of the father/mother and more. It is to be remembered that the details filled in the application form has to be similar to the qualifying degree certificate or the certificate issued by the Head of the Department/Institute in which the candidate was pursuing his/her study.
Academic Details – Information regarding the undergraduate degree details of the candidate along without other required information will have to be submitted in the GATE application form 2019. A scanned copy of the eligibility certificate in PDF format also has to be submitted by the candidates.
Contact Details – Next, the candidates will have to provide their address and contact information.
GATE Paper – The selection of GATE Paper has to be done by the candidates.
GATE Exam Centres - While selecting the exam centres, the candidates will be able to select two GATE centres from their zone and one from another zone.
Photo Identity Proof – Candidates will have to submit the details regarding their photo identity proof. One valid identity proof has to be selected by the candidates which have to be produced during the examination.
Step 3 – Uploading of Scanned Documents
Next, the candidates will have to upload their scanned photograph, signature and other documents (if required) according to the specifications mentioned by the authorities. The documents have to be uploaded properly otherwise the GATE 2019 application form will not be submitted.
Step 4 – Preview of Filled Application Form
After uploading the scanned documents, the candidates will be shown a “Preview” of their filled GATE 2019 application form. All candidates are advised to thoroughly check their submitted information for any mistakes. Editing and correction will not be allowed after this period. Click on “Confirm and Submit”.
Step 5 – Payment of Application Fees
Next, the candidates will be redirected to the payment gateway web-page. The payment of fees has to be done through online mode (net banking/debit card/credit card). After the payment is done, the candidates will be redirected to the GOAPS website. The status of payment can be checked by the candidates after logging back in their GOAPS account.

Step 6 – Submission of GATE Application Form 2019
After payment, the application form of GATE 2019 will be successfully submitted through GOAPS. For the correct data to be provided, the candidates are advised to fill and submit the application form themselves and not through any third party. Following the submission, candidates will have to download the filled application form and print it out for future reference.
How to check GATE 2019 Application Status
The authorities will be scrutinizing the submitted GATE 2019 application form for data accuracy. If any discrepancy is found, the candidates will be informed through email or SMS. The candidates will be able to check their status after logging into their GOAPS account. It is important to rectify the discrepancies within the allotted time otherwise the application form will get rejected.
Forgot Enrollment ID or Password? - The candidates can use the options listed below if they lose their credentials i.e., enrollment id or password.
- Forgot Enrollment ID or not received their Enrollment ID via Email – If the candidate selects this option then he/she will have to submit his/her registered email id and password. Authorities will send the enrollment ID to the candidates through SMS to their registered mobile number.
- Forgot Password – Similarly, for this option, the candidates will have to submit their enrollment id and password. The new password will be sent to the candidate’s registered mobile number.
- Forgot Enrollment ID and Password – If the candidates have registered and paid the fees, the he/she will be have to inform their zonal office. However, if payment has not been done, then the candidates will be able to re-register.
GATE Application Form Correction
A certain period of time will be allotted to the candidates after the registration process is over for correction of submitted application form. However, all information will not be open for changes. To make the changes, the candidates will have to send an email to their respective zonal office. The email should consist of their enrollment number along with the document proof to correct the wrong information.
